Why live in Southfields?

1. The architecture

A variety of architectural styles can be sighted throughout Southfields, with areas such as ‘The Grid’ and ‘Southfields Triangle’ exhibiting original Victorian and Edwardian houses, with some having been converted into flats. There is also an attractive art nouveau style century-old factory which enriches the architectural diversity of the area.

2. Transport links

Renowned for its excellent transport links, Southfields is well-served by various bus routes that allow access to other parts of London, as well as its own tube station which serves as the main Underground station for the Wimbledon Tennis Championships. There is also ample access to A roads, including the A3, A218, and A219 for those wanting to travel by car, allowing residents to travel freely both around the area and further afield.

3. Local amenities

There are numerous grocery and convenience stores that can be found in and around Southfields, including Tesco Express, Sainsbury’s Local, Mark’s & Spencer Foodhall, and Screwfix, all within a short walk, car or bus journey.

4. Food, drink, and culture

Southfields hosts a variety of highly-rated pubs, cafés and cuisines, with restaurants serving Lebanese, Italian, Indian and beyond being found throughout the area. Southfields also has its own library for residents to explore and take advantage of its range of resources and services, and is home to London’s very first Mosque.

5. Green spaces

Southfields’ residents have great access to green spaces, with both King George’s Park and Wimbledon Park being found within and just outside its borders, making the area great for dog walking, sunny picnics, and other outdoor activities.

6. Sport and fitness

Nuffield Health Wandsworth Fitness & Wellbeing Gym can be found in the eastern part of Southfields alongside King George’s Park, so residents can partake in both indoor and outdoor fitness activities. On sunnier days, it might be nice to abandon the treadmills in place of a run through the park instead!

7. Schools and education

Southfields Academy and Saint Cecelia’s Church of England secondary schools are both local to the area, with both being recognised by Ofsted as Good schools. For those with younger children, there are also various primary schools and nurseries, including St. Michael’s Church of England primary school.

8. Hospitals and healthcare

Southfields is close to various healthcare centres, including Elborough Street Surgery, St. George’s Hospital, and Parkside Hospital,
