The Rooksnest Estate consists of a Grade II Listed Manor House with associated Farm buildings and stabling within the picturesque countryside of the northern fringes of the Lambourn Valley.

The client’s brief included the use of timber from the Estate to create a sustainable building. Replacing a 1970’s concrete farm building the proposal has been designed as a Green Oak framed barn; utilising ground source heat pump technology, solar collectors and rain water harvesting. In addition much of the knapped flint to the external walls was sourced from the estate’s fields. The resultant building houses an eclectic mix of uses within a modern interpretation of a traditional oak framed barn.
